  • Description:

Broadcast Journalism at Pali Overnight Adventures!

A summer paradise nestled in the San Bernardino Mountains in Southern California, Pali Overnight adventures offers a once-in-a-lifetime camp experience!

Become the next star reporter, news writer, director or producer while learning every aspect of broadcast journalism! While running every facet of Pali News, you and your fellow campers will create and host a broadcast that airs each night at dinner for all of camp and then at 11:00pm on the worldwide web, keeping parents well-informed of the happenings at Pali.

    Week 1:

In order to do your job right, you will learn to research and write stories, read on camera, and produce on-location segments, as well as skills including camera operation, audio, and lighting. In between breaking news stories, you will get the chance to learn about journalistic ethics, interview techniques, the use of blue screens, in-studio camera work and digital tools used to create the on-screen graphics that highlight network news broadcasts.

Campers in this specialty get the pleasure of representing camp online for the rest of the world to see! You can check out the 2008 Broadcast Journalism campers enjoying the spotlight at www.kpalonline.com.

    Week 2:

For the very serious newsperson, week two is where you really become technically savvy in the broadcast world. With live-to-tape, multi-camera interviews and multiple crews working at once, you will feel the pressure and exhilaration of producing a live news show. Learn every aspect of live news production and master the skills needed to ensure a seamless broadcast. Real-time editing and production requires an expert sense of timing, precision team coordination, and the ability to remain cool no matter the situation. You will master these skills and ultimately produce several live segments for the Pali News Network. As an added perk, you will discover inside camp information before anyone else and be privy to what's going on behind the scenes at Pali.

Upon your return home, you can view all your work at on KPAL and YouTube and show friends and family how much of a star reporter you really are!
